Meet A'Dyn

Hi! My name is A'Dyn. When I first started, I was always in trouble at school. I had been suspended multiple times in a single month, and I struggled deeply with self-confidence, self-identity, and the challenges of growing up. My story is different from a lot of boys, but like many of us, I just needed someone to believe in me. I live in Bankhead, a neighborhood that’s high in crime and full of distractions. Before NorthStar, I couldn’t see a clear path for my future. But NorthStar didn’t just give me hope — it also helped me and my sister get into a better school with a safer environment, which has made a huge difference for both of us. Now, I know who I am, and I see the value of education, brotherhood, and knowing the truth of what it means to be a Black man in America. NorthStar has taught me how to plan for my future and walk with confidence. Most importantly, Mr. Lee has been more than a mentor — he’s been like a father. He’s helped shape not just my choices, but my entire outlook on life. Without NorthStar, I don’t know where I would be. With it, I know I have a future worth fighting for.)
